    Emoticons

    Advertisements

I have been noticing, for quite some time now, that sometimes when I try to add emoticons to a message or PM it causes my entire message to be deleted. This can be quite frustrating, to say the least. I thought I had it figured out, that I needed to add a space then insert the emoticon, but this is not always the case.

    Please help!!!

It's strange it doesn't happen all of the time. I just tried several emoticons with this message and only one, the first one which was the laugh, caused the message to be deleted once I pressed the icon. It's quite strange because I tried the laugh a second time and it didn't happen.

OK, I just attempted a second post to see if anything was different. I again used the laugh as my first emoticon and it caused my message to be deleted. Upon trying it a second time, it worked fine.

    Hey Doc,

Were you able to duplicate the error this time?

I just posted another reply message and used the laugh emoticon and it deleted my message again. When I used the laugh a second time it was fine.

This seems like a strange glitch.

    Thanks!

I haven't had that problem either. Do you have any sort of privacy blockers/firewalls? This may be interfering with the javascript function that is used to insert the emoticons.

If that was the case, wouldn't it do the same thing each time? I only usually notice this with the first emoticon that i insert. It seems the laugh is the worst, but maybe I just use that more?

So, you replied and added a laugh at the end of your post without a space and your message wasn't deleted?

Strange, I just tried the laugh and it worked fine. Why would it be doing this sometimes and not other times?

    emoticon

I haven't been able to reproduce the error and I haven't seen anyone else with this problem which leads me to believe that it might have something to do with your computer's settings as emt036 suggested. Have you been able to reproduce this error on a different computer/location?

Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, it should produce an error when I insert the laugh emoticon at the end without a space like this

Hmmmm.....that changes things. Can anyone else let us know if this is happening to them as well? Please let us know.

What browser and version are you using? Please provide more details on how the error is produced and what is done to get around it so that we can try to locate the glitch. Thanks.
