I was reading online that SMU and Michigan state university have signed an agreement to do some core rotations at their teaching hospitals. Does everyone know about this?
from what it looks like its just the hospital group overseen by MSU.....pretty much the same as Cornell overseeing wyckoff.....once you go to wyckoff you will see its far from cornell prestigeOriginally Posted by charger5001

the problem with the gene pool is that there are too many lifeguards.....and we have been offering swimmies
Synergy is not MSU, it is an affiliate, so no, SMU does not have a relationship with MSU.Originally Posted by swimguy23

I may be wrong...Please provide the link to the website where you got your information. If it is the same one listed above (from the synergy website), then the answer is still no: SMU and MSU don't have an agreement.Originally Posted by charger5001

synergy seems to be a group somewhat similar to GMC. they are a management agency in saginaw michigan. i think smu signed with them and now are contracted to send a certain number of people there so some of you who may not want to set foot in michigan may end up here.
i applied to a specific hospital there and was directed to the synergy group and was told they do the scheduling. synergy said i could not pick a specific hospital that they would asign me to the next available site.
so it is definitely not a contract with MSU so don't beleive everything you read. you can chuck this one up there with the 'affiliation' and 'joining forces' with harvard...in other words it just ain't so.
here is the email:
You also indicate that you would like a rotation at *** ********** Hospital. When we schedule electives, we don’t intentionally assign students to a hospital. None of the hospitals in Saginaw have residency programs. Synergy Medical Education Alliance is in charge of the scheduling for residency programs Saginaw.

now i had a question with the part about none of the saginaw hospitals having not having residency programs as that is a requirement for AUC rotations, so if that is the case i will not be doing rotations there. i have not gotten a repsonse yet so i don;t know.

just looked it over and it looks like they are the business office for these residency programs. i think that saginaw is probably small so instead of having a med ed dept at each small hospital they put all them together. pretty good idea actually, now instead of applying to each freakin' program i can be put at any of the hospitals there.
filling up electives has been so easy, all you guys in ** don;t freak about electives there are plenty of sites just make sure your cores are green by having an actual residency program in that specialty and not just the FP umbrella.
