I just finished reading the Cali report which for the most part praised SMU's curriculum but simply said it was too early for such a young school to get cali approval.
SMU has undertaken many of the cali recommendations in the past year in order to get the state's approval but more importantly to make SMU a better school.
Here is a list as to why SMU gets Cali very soon:
- Research is a live and well at SMU (Harvard has brought instant credibility to the program)
- GPA requirements have gone up
- The purchase of land for a permanent campus
- The continuation of a very high student satisfaction rate
- More U.S hospital signees
I think this discussion deserves its own thread. It is unique in its content.
I agree with you tremble with all the improvements SMU has made over the past 12 months we the students couldnt be more prouder of an institution. They give us all we need to do well and that should be the main criteria for the cali board
They also signed with kaplan since the cali inspection.
That certainly helps our case
I agree....keep this thread as is. There is no need to combine it.
Yes there have been many tangible changes at SMU over the past yr. I think all have been for the better (except kaplan which we dont really benefit from until 5th).
In addition SMU has changed the curriculum to get us more clinical tools with physicals and health history now beginning one semester ealier (3rd)
I hope SMU does get Cali approval, the more Caribbean schools that meet better requirements, the better it is for us all.
Posterior Fornix.
The hiring of better teachers
When is the earliest SMU can reapply for a site visit?
Have we forgoten about the matter of jurice prudence with cali?
Best rejection to date: "..our selection committee has concluded that an interview is not indicated."
I have been officially upgraded to a malady
