    Advertisements

Any new news regarding maine? Last I heard Path II students were doing better on their exams and more people were passing overall.

Anyone speak with someone up their ?

BTW does anyone know if the maine medical library is big? Roughly how many people at a time can study there?

    Re: MAINE NEWS

Yeah Path 2 is doing better now since they revised the exam's values.

Maine Medical Center's Library can fit about 30-35 students if each student uses ONE desk/cubicle (rather than spreading stuff out over multiple desks).
I've seen some students study in the cafetaria, which is open till 2am. That can hold another 75 students or more if need be.

About Maine Medical Center Libarary, I have a feeling that SMU students won't have access to it much longer unfortunantly.
We've been warned 2x about violations of rules, and I constantly see rules being violated by SMU students even today.

Here's just SOME things that I've seen very recently that are gonna lose us our Library priveldges eventually (these are committed by a few students, not all, but remember that actions of a few can/will ruin it for all of us):

-Trash STILL at some areas of library
    -SMU students talking loud
-SMU students talking on cell phones in library while others are studying
-SMU students using Non-Internet designated computers to check emails, chat, and instant message
** There's Internet-designated computers in the front of the library, and all are available, so use them.
-SMU students leaving their material overnight on desks/cubicles to "hold their spot" for the next day.

This isnt OUR library, it's MAINE MEDICAL CENTER'S. We're the guests, remember? Other people, like the thousand plus employees who work there, are all entitled to it as well.
When physicians or nurses or medical staff walk in there and see SMU students acting like that and disrespecting THEIR library, it makes us look bad.

Regardless, I do have a feeling that we wont get warned again. We'll just have our library 24 hour privledges taken away.

Hopefully all you future SMU Cayman to Maine students will still have access to it. It really is a good place to study if utilized professionally by your peers.

I dont know if we'll have another meeting about it. The Dean here warned us the first time after some stupid stuff happened there, after that we got warned by Maine Medical Center's Library. In all honesty, how many warnings can one get, and does it really matter if theyre not going to change?

They dont realize how important it is to have access to a library like that.
SMU's library is CLOSED on the weekends, and it closes at 11pm on the weekdays.
So to have access to a NICE 24 hour Medical Library is priceless.

Actually the SMU library is open on Saturdays 10am to 3 pm. I was working there yesterday. Only one student showed up (not including myself).
