    Why did y'all choose SMU?

    Advertisements

I applied to SMU,AUC,SGU, and St.E-I was accepted to all except SGU..and that is okay because SMU was my first choice b/c of the faculty, medical facilites, rotations, and because it is not dominica 8) .I was just curious to see what are some of the reasons y'all chose SMU over other schools that you had applied(you don't have to name the school either). I like the idea of being in GC because of its civility and other reasons + it is just a cool place to study medicine..any thoughts let me know...I would also like to begin to communicate with my future classmates so feel free to pm me
    Thanks

of the schools you mentioned, i applied to all except st.ei....i chose to go to smu because of its reputation given by their students, the faculties efforts and integrity, the facilities, heard they had very dedicated professors, and their dual degree program...etc. Their reputation is great for a school that hasnt been open for long. Stability was the main reason though. They showed that they could come through when it counted (hurricane and belize situations). you don't want to go to a school and have to worry that it is going to shut down. And its recent affiliation with harvard and its ongoing connection with main's st. joes....has shown that. They have gotten NY approval and we can be licensed in all but kansas and CA (which it wont be long before we get approval anyway) Plus you get to wear a neat uniform...hahahah! But those are some of the reasons. I just feel its the school for me. No matter what you choose, choose it because you know you will be glad you went there. It's a lot of money to throw around. besides, at the end its the eduacation that counts and uslme scores that matter. And i garuntee when we become alumni, its a school that id be proud to be affiliated with ..and would donate to and help out with. (yes a little sappy...but ehh). so i hope that helps.

Texas looks at it on a case-by-case basis. Only Ross has been technically 'approved' by Texas; so all of its grad don't have the hassle of getting their cases look at by the medical licensing board everytime. But for everybody else, Texas looks at u on a case by case basis.

Side note: Don't u have blocks coming up? Why aren't u studying instead of on this forum?

Texas doesn't follow anybody's lead, lets be clear about that! They certainly have not adopted CA's licensure procedures or list of "approved" schools, which includes SGU, AUC, Ross, and Saba. They do their own thing.

If the Lone Star State even gets a sniff of a rumour that they are doing the same as some other state, they'll be sure to change things right away!

It would be a very good thing if Texas were to follow CA's lead, it'd actually be easier to get licensed.
