How far in advance of the semester shall one begin to look for housing? What neighborhoods/areas are affordable and decent? Any help would be appreciated.

I would say that it is never too early to start looking, although right now it's going to be really tough to find anything. I was in Grand Cayman on January 19 and talked to several realtors...none of them had any rental properties. There is a lot of construction going on right now, so I'm hoping that there will be a lot more housing in the near future (as in the beginning of the may semester). I've heard that many places will be finished starting the beginning of march (keep your fingers crossed).
As far as where to live...I'd say you should try to live either in West Bay, 7 mile beach, or Georgetown. Anything further east is going to start to be pretty far from campus.
Just my two cents...anyone else feel free to reply.

So how long are you allowed to stay in university housing, and how expensive are the apartments for rent?
At this point, everyone stays in the Hall for one semester, with a few exceptions. We'll see how it goes when West Indies becaomes available. I've seen everything from CI$475 for a studio to CI$2300 for a 3 bedroom, 3 bath place. I think khamilton probably has a better grasp of the available prices.
Even married couples?Quote:

So, for those 1st semester students who are married, do they have to apply as an exception to residing in RH? Or is it a given that they have the option to reside elsewhere (off campus/RH) without formally requesting to do so?Quote:

You need to mention as well on the application that you will be with your wife.
this is going to be a silly question. But the grand cayman is the perminant location for SMU, correct?
Yes, absolutly
