Thread: What are my chances?..help please!

Answer these questions:

Are you grammar school graduated (or can you produce a kindergarten diploma that proves your commitment to continue your education in elementary school in a reasonable time)?
Can you read in average speed?
Can you write with less than 10 errors per line?
Are you potty trained?
When you see people you don't want to eat their liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti?
Can you produce the money?

To put it in a more mature way. Yes SMU should accept you. Getting accepted is generally easy but passing and getting through the school is not.

2.18 sgpa (one horrible semester due to family and financial problems which i explained in an application addendum)
MCAT in january (getting 25-30 on practice so far)

I just submitted my application and here are my stats.

2.90 oGPA
2.59 sGPA
B.S. in Biology in Apr. 2011
Leadership Experience (3 years assistant manager of high volume restaurant)
3+ years of shadow/volunteer exp. (hospital, family clinic, and dental clinic)
Microbiology research

I also had a semester of family/financial issues and a full-time job, resulting in lower GPA.

Taking MCAT in January... getting 22-25 in practices.

My problem is financial aid, I can get Davenport, but that will only cover about half. I have 10K saved up, and my family can help with about 5K. Still leaves about 70-80K over 3.5 years.

-I would like to know my shot for direct admission for January 2012.
-I graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Biology and a minor in sociology.
-I have a 2.8 cgpa and a 2.9 sgpa. For reasons I can explain with working 25+ hours/week throughout my educational career. I have maxed out every semester with at least 19 credits/6 classes. And I have an upward trend during my senior year.
-I am also currently taking two upper level post bacc courses in order to strengthen my application.
-I have over 400 Hours of hospital volunteer work.
-1 year of research at a prestigious army reseach lab.
-I am a certified phlebotomist.
-I have been working at a private practice for about a year, as a medical assistant, under two physicians who have been practicing internal medicine for 10+ years under the association of John Hopkins.
-and I have 6 recommendations. 3 from M.Ds., and 3 from PhDs. (my professors).
-I have taken the MCAT once, but wasn't satisfied with my score. Thus, I will be taking it again this spring.

I'd really appreciate it someone would let me know on my chances. Thanks.
