    students who have done 3rd year in UK but 4th year in US

    hey, to all students who have done 3rd year rotations in UK and continued 4th year in US, what residencies have you gotten?
    have you pre-matched?
    what sites?
    please post,
    help us know the true facts

    I'm not in that situation I'm about to take the step 1, but when I went to residency websites and looked for specific information on requirements of individual programs, alot of them said at least 1 year clinical experience in the US is either required or suggested. That says to me that you may be at a disadvantage by doing all your cores in the UK..

    You're on the money there. Also take into consideration that by the time we fill out our applications for residency, 4th year will have already started...that means that LOR's will likely come from our core rotation attendings (most likely IM or surg). I would rather my LOR's come from a US attending than from a UK attending if I am to apply for US residencies.

    Institution / program registration begins at 12:00 noon eastern time.
    November 30, 2008
    Applicant registration deadline
    Note: Applicants may register after this deadline by paying an additional late registration fee of $50.00 when registering after 11:59 PM eastern time.

    January 15, 2009
    Rank order list entry begins.
    Applicants and programs may start entering their rank order lists at 12:00 noon eastern time.

    January 31, 2009
    Quota change deadline
    Programs must submit final information on quotas and withdrawals by 11:59 PM eastern time.

    February 25, 2009
    Late registration deadline
    Rank order list certification deadline
    Applicants and programs must certify their rank order lists by 9:00 PM eastern time. Staff will be available to answer your questions during the final deadline hours. CERTIFIED applicant and program rank order lists and any other information pertinent to the Match must be entered in the R3 System by this date and time.
