Hi, Can someone please clarify for me what is the difference between the Bonaire and new anguilla campus for SJSM, I want to attend Bonaire, only becasue they say the new campus anguilla does not hold the same approval/accrediation as Bonaire, please any current/prospective/alumnis help me out here, the pros and cons, thanks a million =)
Who are "they" that are saying the Anguilla campus isn't approved? Both campuses are listed on IMED. The Bonaire campus is older and more established, but the Anguilla campus is newer and more expensive. That's basically it.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

so hopefuldoc74, are you at the sjsm new campus? Well for one, one of the admission advisors said that and other sjsm people are saying it does not hold the same accrediation, I would figure its the same school so same rules. I swear this site and talking to other folks just confuses me more. Any suggestions/advice
No I'm not in Anguilla - I'll be attending the Bonaire campus in a few weeks. It's the same school, just different campus, however it has it's own IMED listing so you can get your ECFMG certificate and sit for the US medical licensing exams. I've spoken to a few of the admissions advisors while I've been going through the process and I've never heard anyone say anything negative about Anguilla. As a matter of fact, the only drawback to it as far as I can see is that it's more expensive to live there and the tuition is a bit higher, but that's it.
In my opinion, you should go to the Bonaire campus. It's a little cheaper to live on that island and the campus has been around over a decade so it's more established. Those were my deciding factors. It's a little more paperwork to get your student visa to study there, but, hey, it's medical school. If it were easy...

thanks hopeful, I hear anguilla is also safer than bonaire, I was told stories of muggings, robberys etc, but than again it is the carib. med schools so no one said it was going to be easy, too bad theres no starbucks on every block like here in NY , thanks again and all the best!!!!!!!!!!
Hmmm... you are from NY and you are complaining about muggings and robberies?

hahahha I know but its never happened to me around me thank god. I m thinking Bonaire only bc its more established.
im going to bonaire in jan 2012....i looked at the map on google of the campus and it seems the school is very small ( as in only a couple of buildings?) is this true? the website pretty much has no pictures of the actual campus...it seems like its in the heart of civilization tho which is good i guess
It's actually a tree house with no electricity. Students must walk through the rainforest and across an ancient rope bridge to get to the village, as well.
