Future job market for International Medical Graduates?

    Advertisements

    Hello,

Ok, say everything goes well and I finish med school at SGU, then I get a residency, then I successfully finish residency. Once I'm done with all of that, will it be difficult to find a job as an IMG? I guess my question is, do employers (such as hospitals, group practices, clinics, etc.) care where you went to medical school?? I'm assuming that once you're a US certified and US licensed doctor, it should be easy to find a job, right? Thanks for the feedback.

see getting residency is the thing you worry about most, but if you go to SGU you wont have to worry about that, cause they will prep you well.
Once you get past residency, and get licensed you are "almost" on the same playing field as a US grad.
Yes an employer will want to know where you went to school, but even more so they will want to know where you did residency and who backign you up with personal references( most likely the the docs from your residency).
Once you get and finish residency ...its "almost" like shedding of the IMG skin.... Kind of like where you went to undergrad is important, but when in Med school people are more interested in where you went to med school( undergrad and grad school become like stepping stones - not the mark of who you are or will be).

    take care

this is an old issue. Please do a search and you'll find threads not to old about it.
But the bottom line is that no one cares much after residency.
