Thread: Health Insurance Question

Hey guys. I've been having trouble getting a straight answer from admissions, so I thought I would ask here. Here in the states, my husband and I have good health insurance through his company which we will be able to keep while we are in Grenada. The problem with that of course is that all of the offices/hospitals are in the states, so we wouldn't have access to them. But if there was an emergency, we would have good care in the states (we will definitely get the evacuation insurance as it is cheap), as well as the benefit of having established health insurance when we return to the states.

I'm trying to figure out what the benefits of getting health insurance through the school are. Is in mainly for services in the states or does it offer something extra in Grenada? If we don't have insurance from the school, do they deny you care for something routine, such as a simple doctor's visit? The main reason that I ask is that for both my spouse and I, health insurance through the school would be considerably more than we are paying now, so I'm wondering what the benefits are from getting it through the school.

i didnt know that there was a difference in rate for a healthy person and a sick person..as far as i know its all the same

well, I never got a health insurance paper since my acceptance, so I need to ask for one. I just was at work and wondered if anyone knew what the basic health insurance plan was with the highest deductible. Sorry for the confusion.

sorry i dont have the quote, maybe some of those that has the form can tell you, but i think this has been discussed recently. run a search and you might have some info

Under Age 24: Policy 1- $1654, Policy 2- $1030
Age 24-30: Policy 1- $1872, Policy 2- $1166

Ok, I think im going to do the Global Student Health Silver plan (estudentinsurance.com) for $468 for a year. I dont go much and cant justify paying $1000+ for the schools plan. This plan has a $100 deductible each time I go ($50 if I go to a student clinic first) and I pay 50% of perscriptions.

I didn't get it either but there was a post saying that i could go from MY SGU. If you don't get your Id and password you shoudl ask your admin officer. It is usually your 3letter sof last name and 3of firstname (I think so). I have only 2letters in my last name so I can't say it is 3 or 2. The password is ur SS# with dashes. Or you can go to
