We may not know until mid December?!

    Advertisements

I am completely understanding of how difficult it is for our administration to decide whether they will be ready to move the medical program back to Grenada, there are soooo many factors they must take into consideration and they have done and amazing job.

Can a representative from the school please let me know a more solid date for when the announcement will be made regarding a possible return to Grenada in January? Finding out a few days before the semester began was okay last time because we weren't really settled anywhere (okay maybe is wasn't so great for everyone), but now we have apartment leases and our spouses have jobs that we can't risk losing only to find out a few days after we give notice that we're staying. I understand where the school is right now, I don't envy the tough decisions that are ahead for you. But please know that some families have alot more at stake that just where they will be studying and would be very thankful for finding out sooner rather than later.

    thank you,
    jgriggs

My understanding is that they're 99.999% sure that we're going back and suggest that we book plane tickets. On December 1st ****** will make the absolute final decision based on all the available info, but right now there is no reason to think we won't be on the island in January. My husband and I already booked our tickets.

    returning

Most people are not booking tickets to Grenada yet. Word from a recently returned SO from the island was that nothing has changed there since September. Even the administration is pretty wary about our return. When we get an official go-ahead I'll consider booking a ticket.

    returning to Grenada

I received a letter from admin that the Spring '05 class is now from Feb 8th to June 3rd. So it's official. Call them if you're in doubt.

    really quick

Even though we have seen the updated official start dates (and the place shown is grenada), it still does not mean that classes will be in grenada, although I am praying they are. I miss my home!!! Dr. ****** said at a conference shortly after the resumption here in NY that we would know by Dec 1. 2 representatives from the fin aid office at bayshore who were on the old westbury NY campus last wednesday said we should know by mid december. Either way, I am waiting to book my tickets til i know more, but i appreciate buttons faith that we will be back soon! Here's hoping...

    apts

I have already bought my ticket for grenada but I don't believe the rumours about anything. The reason is that noone knows for sure whether the school or the surrounding community is ready for our return.
Kathy although I enjoyed my time in Grenada I think there are various degrees of preparation for our return. I just talked to my landlord yesterday and he said that LAE has power (at least by the Calabash Hotel) but who knows about the rest of the region. In order for them to fix the roofs they need materials and power in order for the power tools to work. Our roof was partly damaged and it still has not been fixed. The school may be ready but where are they going to house all the influx of students? Are we going to be studying by candle light and taking showers at LAE bay like we used to?
I hope they are ready but the question is are they ready for us?

We can always pitch a tent...
