Going to SGU next semester, Need helpful advice

    Advertisements

So yea. Trying to get a heads up about living on the island. Stuff thats not on the school website.

    • Can anyone who has gone there give me some pointers as to what to pack/ not pack (not the obvious things, but stuff you couldn't get on the island)
    • Any suggestion on a phone plan? I have an iphone, do I need to get a sim card there?
    • How was on-campus housing?
    • What do students eat while staying there? -Is there a market, food places, cafe, ect. nearby?
    • Any suggestions on the Student health insurance? Is it necessary?

Basically, what pointers can you give me that you wish you knew early on.
I appreciate any and all advice!

Careful with the Student Health Insurance. Back in the States they told me the never heard of the company.
On campus housing is small, expensive, but safe. Students usually hook up with friends off campus after term1 or 2.
Students eat on campus or go to IGA, a nice air-conditioned supermarket. Spices can make your cheapie ramen or
pinto beans a whole lot more tasty.
Enjoy the island and try to avoid turning into a study robot.
Also keep your sense of humor on IT/curriculum meltdowns: you will experience over 100 of them in your medical education at SGU.
