You cannot match into any of the military programs as a military physician (Medical Corps Officer). You MAY be eligible for the programs that accept civilian applicants for civilian slots, but you would not receive a commission in the military.

FWIW, I have a friend who is an Army attending physician in Texas, and she told me that her IM program accepts some IMGs. Again, not as Army physicians, but as civilian colleagues.

Interesting! I didn't know "civilian" slots existed in the VAMC. I guess you can be a DoD contractor??? but as a PGY-1? Thanks!

Yeah, there are civ-div slots at several DOD hospitals. I do not have any idea how their contracts compare to those of the military docs at the same facilities, but some of those programs are pretty good... and it would be rather hard to beat Tripler for location!

I'm currently an AMEDD officer in the guard and I'd love to join active army. Thanks for the info!

None of what was said was sarcasm, cuz that's a little difficult to ascertain on a web board (although your attitude is quite obvious). I was answering your question. The Match list is published. Every year. It can be found by simply googling "sgu match list." But just incase that's not enough guidance here you go.

If you are currently in the Guard, and you finished a DOD civ-div internship, I would imagine that you would be a shoo-in once you finished residency.

Even better, though, considering your aspirations... you might see if it would be possible to join Army FAP while in a civilian DOD residency. That would guarantee you an ACDU billet after graduation, and put some serious coin in your pocket during residency, as well.

    Good luck!

Match list's can be found for other school's but they are far less detailed. Ross has one that is self reported I believe. I've seen match lists for some DO schools but they are just placements.

Salama was trying to be helpful...do a search and look at the list that has been posted on the sgu site since before I graduated... If you expect to be handed everything to you...well let's just say you will not thrive at sgu.
