U World, should I subscribe now?

    Advertisements

Seeming as I have an entire term of just 3 credits (CPD) I was considering subscribing to U World to aid my review during the 3-4 months.

However, some upper termers told me the questions would be too hard for me right now and it's better to leave them for when I do my real review after 5th term.

So far I found the questions too hard and I am in term 5. This is because 1) I haven't reviewed a bunch of stuff yet; 2) there are TONS of pharm questions on topics we haven't covered yet. I would suggest reading FA and doing the FA questions and cases, that will be more on the level of FA rather than the USMLE, and then once in term 5, halfway there, get UW.

I am sure, other ppl have other opinions.
    Good luck

UWorld is a good kick in the butt to get motivated though. Their ?s are pretty tough but I found them to be on par with the Comp (well comp was a little easier). What I have been doing is 50 new ? a day, then 50 "Incorrect" ?s and if I get it wrong a second time it goes in the notebook, which is full of that stuff and I review that notebook every day. Good luck (oh yeah to be on point wait and just do FA for now.)

If I were you, once again I'd start studying Pharm. I would focus on Pharm and read all of FA. If you do this you will be good to go for term 5. It'll take a huge weight off your shoulders. Don't worry about UWorld right now.

I agree. I'd review FA and do some pharm/pathophys. I've done few q's on UW (just to see how they're) and they're tough. It'll be much more helpful if I reviewed everything i've studied so far and then do UW (purely as a board prep thing).

You know, this isn't bad advice, especially if you've already done pathology. If I was in your position, I would go even farther. A whole term with just CPD? I would capitalize on this opportunity and read the entire pharmacology textbook (like Lippincotts). FA is great, but with all that free time you could really get a head start on 5th term pharmacology and FA is a bit too succinct for that. You could easily learn pharmacology on your own, its more of a self learning type of material in the first place (I haven't attended a lecture since the first week of class).

Yup, last term I didn't even go to one Pharm lecture. I did sonic D's lectures but they were word for word from his notes. I really only liked his notes, the rest of the profs notes are not good at all. I would def recommend Lippincotts as a reference for the other profs that lecture. Other wise I did all of the Pharm Kaplan videos. So Yeah I think that Lippincott, FA with kaplan videos is something that would be key to doing amazing.

Yeah I know what you mean. But UWorld can totally be saved till later in term 5 or even after term 5. Just use your time to do Pharm and start now. Try to keep up with the class schedule even. It'll be a breeze for you next term!! = ) good luck.

Wait. Toast? is the one repeating CPD. I thought Prash finished Basics. What is going on here?
