Is SGU the best offshore medical school?

SGU rotations are greenbook and in the US which would allow me to come back to the US earlier and make connections with programs. They also prepare me for the boards and their match list is impressive.

What are some other offshore schools (in and outside the Caribbean) that are comparable or better than SGU?

Plus you're only out of the states for 2 years.

please keep this thread on topic, if you want information on Italian med schools, then go to the European medical school forum....

the main forum on VMD is quite helpful for all the info you require on European, Asian, Australian, etc, etc medical schools, search on there where people can answer your questions with greater accuracy. If you have specific questions about SGU, then ask them here. The mods will be watching this thread carefully to ensure it does not stray too far off topic.

you can always pose this question/search in the General Residency Issues - Student Doctor Network Forums forum in SDN. This forum is visited by U.S Program Directors who sometimes post.

Look into Israel, specifically the program in Tel Aviv University. They have small class sizes (under 65), reasonable tuitions (~$20k) and match lists comparable to lowish tier US schools like RFU, EVMS and NYMC.

Their admission standards though are also much higher than the Caribbean. You need either a high GPA (3.6+) or a high MCAT (32+) if you're weak on one of them.

Plus, the clinical experience in Israel is like nothing else, you have attendings themselves teaching you. They don't have the liability problem that American hospitals have, so as medical student in Israel you can do A LOT, instead of just scut work or standing around.

Although the program is in English and follows the American curriculum including time to study for the USMLE, you would need to also pick up a little Hebrew to maximize your experience during the clinical year.

And you do your 4th year electives and interviews in the US.

Plus, Grenada doesn't compare to Tel Aviv:

So we can't ask about other medical schools compared to SGU becuase that would be off topic? Thats an infraction?

On topic: SGU I think is the best geared towards USMLE vs Irish, Polish, etc and so forth.
