Help in getting into Saint George University MEdical school

    Advertisements

I have a 2.75 cum. gpa and I have recently graduated from college with a bachelors degree. I plan on taking some classes over this summer to raise my gpa at a community college. I was looking into the premedical studies program at SABA and applying for that program. Can anyone give me any insight on it and what else I should do to get into this school? Should I just raise my gpa and apply to the school in the MD program or should I raise it and apply for the premedical program? Also, after finishing the premedical, does that guarantee you admission into their medical school? they didnt have any information on the process on the website.

hate to be blunt but that gpa is way too low. You need an MCAT score for SABA and SGU. Not sure if you even have a shot at the pre-med. Might want to try the MERP program at Ross (1 semester), ARP at UMHS (1 semester), or pre-med at AUA (4-semesters) or MUA (2-semesters).

The programs at Ross, UMHS, AUA, MUA all allow you to start med school if you pass their pre-med programs successfully.

Does Saba even have a pre med program? And why is this in the SGU forum?

I am pretty sure you can't choose the merp program in place of Pre Reqs, its for people who have the requirements but still need to prove themselves. I also don't think saba has a premed program and even if it did you coudln't use it to get in SGU med.
SGU has their own PreMed, but it's block years so you can not pick and choose classes, you have to take the whole semester. . I think you are right about the UMHS and the AUA and MUA. I am pretty sure you could get int to AUA and the others with just doing the Pre Reqs in the states and really see no benefit at all to doing them at the school.
Any one feel free to correct me, I might be wrong.

Why doesn't the OP contact admissions and ask them questions about admissions into SGU? They will have all of the truth and knowledge he/she requires. I don't think there is a guarantee for entry into any school by the way, and I know there isn't for SGU.

Honestly I never had any luck contacting admissions, they were always putting me on the phone with some student who didn't know much about premed. I also has some one at a seminar tell me that I could just take FOM for my Pre Reqs, which is wrong.

I think what epidural was referring to special cases, where they may require an MCAT. Something like gpa under 3 something or classes/pre-requs taken at community college.

Taking classes at a community college is not likely to help. What would help is taking graduate-level courses and obtaining good grades.

IF you are asking about SABA perhaps it would be better to go to the SABA website.

You don't qualify for pre-med because you already have a bachelor's degree.
