    FOM mention in interview letter/interview

    Advertisements

Just wondering, if they mention that you are also being considered for the FOM program but you have an interview for the SOM, what are the chances that you'll get accepted into SOM? Has anyone had this mentioned but was still accepted into the SOM? Thanks a lot!

Likewise, FOM was mentioned in my letter and I was accepted into the SOM. If you're worried about it you can bring up in your interview why you think you'd be a solid match for admission directly into SOM. I knew from my application what my weak spots were (in terms of GPA), so I just explained to my interviewer how I had improved and why I thought the admissions committee shouldn't be concerned about sending me straight to SOM. ::shrugs::

    Good luck.

I was selected for an interview ) I am so happy I don't know what to do !!!
can't even study for my midterm tomorrow!!

This is what they wrote for me
" We have received your file back from the
Committee on Admission and you have been granted an interview for the
__date__ MD program. Please be advised, although an interview will be
conducted for the School of Medicine, your file may also be considered for
    the Foundation to Medicine Program"

Honestly, my application is pretty strong in termso of my personality, essay, LORS, volunteer, research... average MCAT and low GPA .... but I have improved sooo significantly since first yr and my graduating gpa is 3.6 ....

do you think I should worry for not getting direct admission? should I share my 'worriness' with my interviewer?

I think most people get emails rather than snail-mail letters (most of my communication was an initial email followed up by a confirming phone call).

    3.2 cGPA, 33T MCAT
4 years of full-time molecular biology lab work/project coordination after graduation (including running a clinical trial)
some international volunteer medical relief work
    1 publication, 2 posters

I think those were the major points of my app. I'd gotten pretty sick at one point during undergrad which bombed my GPA (which I think is why they were considering me for FOM as well as SOM).
