    Toronto

Im from Toronto as mentioned in another thread it seems like there will be quite a few Canadians heading down to SGU in the summer when a few more ppl get accepted and identify themselves here we should start a facebook group to get to know each other and discuss any issues we may have with regards to being Canadian IMGs

    Hey

I'm applying for SGU August start.

Good to see fellow Canadians for Aug 09, just wondering, did anyone of you approach one of the local banks for LOC? If so, how long did the process take?

    Thanks

I went to TD and they told me that they don't give out LOC for international students (other than US) anymore... However RBC still does 150K - prime +1. But I am trying to research other options such as BMO, which also does 150K at prime. Also NBC does 150K plus possible additional 50K for residency at prime. NBC also defers interest until after graduation.. so at this time NBC seems like the best option for me.. I have an appointment with them on Thursday, will let u guys know what them tell me.

Well, does anyone know exactly how much OSAP might be able to provide? I'm guessing...not much...

Good luck with the LOC. I've been having a heck of a time trying to get one through RBC and BMO. Unless you have a very wealthy co-signer, forget about it. Credit is super-tight in Canada right now, even when applying for a professional LOC, which is pretty much free money for these banks because the drop-out rate from professional programs is low.

    Hey Everyone,

I've been away from these forums for a while. I'm from Toronto and did my MPH and MD at SGU.

I'll be in Toronto for a while, studying for MCCEE and waiting for match.

When I was in basic science, I used to organize gatherings for current and future students to meet up in Toronto. Would this be of interest to anyone?

Feel free to PM if you have any questions.

    Marco

A few years ago, OSAP maxed out at a little over 6k per year at SGU.

Hi MYung! setting up a gathering for past/current/future SGUers would be awesome! This would be a great opportunity for us newbies to learn more about what to expect in the next few years and also an opportunity to meet our future classmates. How long are you in Toronto for?
