    Carry Ons

    Advertisements

I've been reading on here about a lot of lost/delayed luggage. I'm trying to figure out what all I need in my carry on. Clothes for a few days.... should I put my external hard drive and expensive/breakable things in there or will they be safe in my checked luggage? How about my school supplies- folders and stuff. Are they fine in checked luggage and then just hope it arrives the first week?

What do you suggest for smart packing?

Put all your expensive stuff in your carry-on b/c there's a chance that it could be stolen by corrupt baggage handlers or lost in transit. That would include your hard drive and laptop. School supplies you can put in check-in b/c I doubt anybody would want to steal your folders, unless you're talking about an LV or some designer folio. If possible, fly first class b/c they have special tags for the check-in luggages that indicates you're flying first class and it means you'll get your luggage on the plane first. At least I've never had a problem with delayed luggage when flying first. Another plus about flying first is the free booze/food at the airport lounges and a higher baggage weight allowance. As for peeps who had delayed luggage, they usually have them by the end of the week. So bring a change of clothes or 2 for carry-on just in case along with essential toiletries (ie toothbrush). One thing you can try doing when bringing a lot of clothes that won't fit in that suitcase of yours is to go to a Bed Bath & Beyond or Linens N Things store and buy a space bag...one of those clear bags that you can put your stuff in and use a vacuum to suck out all the air. Makes it easier to squeeze more stuff in.

I have also been told to make sure that you pack your sheets for your ed in grenada. Don't want to be without those!

Does anyone know how strict Liat and Jamaica are regarding the weight of the carry on? Will they actually weight it?

Thanks tin. I know about their allowances etc.,. But I have heard from some sources that they aren't too strict about checking the weight of the carry on, unless it is obviously very over. Just seeing if any1 will corroborate what I heard.
