you can come now if you want. all the dorms are open and will be open since all the MD terms have started since last week
My fellow SGU brethren,
I was recently accepted into SGUs MPH to MD program, and will be matriculating this February. I however have a question to ask about scheduling my flights. Should I schedule my incoming flight for February 14th since that's when the Dorms open, or should I schedule it one day earlier? If I schedule it earlier, will they still allow me to move in or will I have to get a hotel? Regarding departure times, can I schedule a flight for July 12th, or should I schedule it for a later time? How late can we stay in the dorms before they close them for summer vacation? Thanks for all your help!

Hey welcome to SGU
Feb 14th should be fine to fly in. The MPHers will have their own orientation activities as all of the other schools have already started. July 12 is a thursday, is that when you were told the last day of classes would be? If so this usually means that you have the potential of having a final exam anytime on this day, so it is best to grab a flight on Sunday-ish (July 15), so that you have time to pack up your belongings, and get them to storage. You should call your admissions counsellor, they are a wealth of information and can definitely tell you when the last day you can be in res will be. The students from the rest of the terms will have already left, so the MPHers will be the only students left on campus.
FYI-
According to the schedule posted on the SGU website, the
"Last Day of Examinations and Official End of Term" is July 6th. Keep that in mind when planning your return flight.

rokshana: July 6th is the last day for classes and exams for the second term of the MPH program.
I called my admissions counselor and she told me dorms will open officially for MPH students on the February 12th (meaning that's when we can start moving in even though the dorms are already open). She also told me that I can fly out July 7th, and that we don't need to stay for the Academic Progress Committee Meeting.
Thanks for all your help everyone! See you in Grenada!
like i said before, bayshore has no idea what is happening in gnd nd vice versa. yes even tho the official date is 2/12 you can come down now if you want, noone will stop u. but you probably will just get charged more for the dorm fee. so if you want to come down a bit earlier to see the island and get adjusted, dont let the "official" date prevent you from doing that.

1st term will end before 3rd and 4th so there is no set date for MD in general. Rather, there are 2 end dates. June 22 sounds like the term 3 and 4 end dates for MD.

we were in gnd til july 8th for 4th term (4th of july in GND- tried to get fireworks up, but it rained that day), but that was probably because it was the term after ivan and we had to stay longer to make up some classes.
