    New Anatomy Professor Credintials

    Advertisements

    Listen to this,

when I took anatomy, Dr. L supposedly from Harvard, told everyone he was a cardiologist from Harvard.

    My questions are:

1- how come his name doesn't come up on harvard university website as an alumni or anywhere on Google except AUC and SGU?

2- Why would a cardiologist from Harvard be teaching om this advanced Island in the basement of the anatomical department instead of practicing medicine anywhere else?

3- Can anyone confirm where exactly did Dr. L his cardiology residency in?

4- and the last one, but not the least one, why would school spread this rumor around that Dr. L is a cardiologist and they've just hired cardiologist from Harvard?

    Thanks for your time,

    Dr.B

He did not last long. did he?

Steph has said that he does teach there Anatomy. Now his Cardio background is anyone's guess...I guess.

Now here is his quote and it shows tha he is an expert in mass publication production! Now, come on! 40 papers in 9 months!! 40??????????????

"I believe that our research activities (12 papers published from the begining of 2006 and 28 in press) and contribution to the schools research reputation would be continued with more papers and future awards. "

And here is his CV as per SGU:

"xx was born and raised in Greece. He studied medicine in Warsaw Medical University in Poland and graduated MD in 2000. He earned a PhD in 2003 from the Institute of Rheumatology in Warsaw, his research thesis being concerned with inflammatory aspects of atherosclerotic lesions. Dr XX held a teaching appointment in the Department of Pathology in the Warsaw Medical School and a joint appointment as tutor-lab instructor in the Departments of Cell Biology and Medical Education and Development at Harvard University. In 2003 he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Embryology at the American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten. In 2005 he was appointed as Chairman of the Department of Anatomy, Embryology and Histology. Dr XX has served as a research visitor at Harvard University since 2001 and is the author of an extensive list of research abstracts and scientific journal articles."

There is no room in there for a Cardio fellowship (you also need to do an Internal Medicine residency first!...) Maybe he is an Anatomist of the heart, aka Cardiologist.

thanks man for clearing this up.. apparently he hasn't done any residency yet...

Ok as for the paper, don't get fooled.. I went to the lab and saw one of the posters he published. first of all, submitting a paper is not a big deal. I did submit three papers by doing research in teaching hospital in three months. The important thing is that what type of paper and research are they. He works on cadavers and the topics he picks are not that clinically useful. He just keep publishing and publishing and using the cadavers form the anatomy lab and students are like wow wow. It's exactly the same way as he said he was a cardiologist.

My attending, who was a neuroradiologist, was working on topics Dr. L would've never thought of that even at the anatomical level and there were 3 residents involved in his research. I reviewd over 6000 patient profiles for one of the researches. and here bunch of first year students continue dissecting the cadavers left over from the semester.

Don't get me wrong on that.. I do appreciate Dr. L's work and all his effort, but if you've ever done major clinical research in teaching hospitals, you would know what I'm saying, and I think school is just exgerrating this.

He did win an award at the meeting of clinical anatomist, beating 20 or so American medical schools that participated. Not an easy feat!

He is also at the moment an anatomy professor so i can understand his work being involved in dissection of cadavers. However all of the research is clinically related since his work is published in the journal of clinical anatomy.

Just because you don't think its that big of a deal doesn't allow you to criticize him, call him a liar, or spread rumors.

It's not going to be clinical research, we just don't have that option. The point of the group seems to be offering 1st/2nd year students the chance to publish. A chance, I might add, for which people had been clamoring. To that end, it fits the bill quite nicely. Clearly program directors will view these papers with a discerning eye. I think, however, that the comparison isn't between publishing in the Journal of Anatomists vs. Neurosurgery. The apt comparison is the Journal of Anatomists vs. nothing.

    Re

There is no doubt in my mind that Dr.L is a great teacher nor the fact that he is doing a very good thing for SGU student , my problem was only his credintials and the fact that he is not a cadiologist.
    Thank You

ok im in vienna but have signed on her eto deal with this nonsence. I know this man and have met him at harvard. I am not going into his credentials with you. you will have to take my word for it that he is a med school teacher at harvard in the anatomy course. if you dont believe me after my years here at vmd, that is your perogative. however publishing personal info about anyone is a violation of tos and I will makre sure admin action is taken against anyone who violates them willfull. BTW he is not "leaving for harvard" permenanty, just to teach for a few mos as he does every year. And before you get further bent out of shape, you wont find me on the harvard prof web site but I teach there too. you dont understand the (admittedly weird) structure of the harvard med ed program and im not wasting any more minutes to explain it to you now. there is no extensive list of everyone who teaches there due to the odd system. save to say we are both instructors there.
