    Started First Day Today: Thoughts

Hey guys, I just started the first official day of classes, and let me be the first to tell the new comers for the August class, medical school is no joke. You will get hit hard from day one, and it doesn't get any easier. I was really uncomfortable the first few days here at Grenada, but living at Grand Anse and meeting very nice people from every corner of the earth has made me realize that I did not make a mistake coming down here. It is everything they said it is and even more. The students and faculty are really great, and the white coat ceremony, which we had yesterday, made us all feel that we were important and that this was not just another caribbean medical school. Our guest speaker was from Harvard Medical School graduate and the master of ceremonies was a neurologist who graduated from here ten years ago.

To all of those who are having any doubts or if your grades and MCAT aren't that great, I am telling to just apply. I personally had a mediocre GPA and really low MCAT, but St. George's found something special about me that no other US medical school could. Good luck to all those entering or looking to come down here in August. Remember to come down a few days earlier, since it does take some time to get adjusted to this new environment.

Hi stephanie, I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful job your doing with this forum. I truly valued your comments for the January class, since this was my place to run to when I was anxiously waiting for my admissions. Thanks!

    no. none. why

    ha ha.
    no.

In seriousness, please do enjoy the fun you can have with your colleagues, but also, please treat them with respect. Premeds- you will work harder in med school that you can imagine now. SGU is not a "party school" and if you're looking for that, medince is the wrong way to go.

Well balanced people will also enjoy their life and their friends, without question, without qualification. However you're not frat kids anymore nor should you want to be like that now. Youve chosen a noble career and you should act noblely. We've just finished interviewing for residency- i cannot stress to you how exquistly your character will determine your future. Act like a donkey and it will come through to others. Be decent- have fun absolutely- but be decent, and that many more doors can open. so do it for enlightened self-interest if for no other reason.

We were just talking about the parties. I'm sure Indianbabu knows there work like you've never imagined. And everyone down here treats everyone nicely......nicest group of people I"ve seen.

I'm sayin, the parties are not every weekend. they are few. but I have to say, when they do happen they are huge, big, large and wild!!!!!!

    Party hard, study harder.
