Is that where this is going? Because it's continually proven to be more of a sleezy car dealership than an academic institution.

As someone previously mentioned on another thread, our school is just another business venture of a parent funding company called University Ventures. Do you think Ponce was secured as a clinical site just in our best interests? As an effort to provide us with "US" clinical experience? Perhaps. But it is also likely that it was chosen, instead of another, more expensive but better suited option to the students, because this company was trying to keep all their students and money in the same pot. It was not "quickly" secured to accommodate our students, as it was always an option lying around through this parent company, and also a partner for the family medicine program.

Ok so maybe that is something that we can overlook. However, is it not odd to all of you, that our executive dean that has been travelling around "looking for clinical sites for our students" is in fact also FULL TIME President of another university under this same company, Galen University in Belize? Remember back in University of Michigan when your dean also happened to be the president of Texas a&m? No. Because being a dean should be a full-time job.

Is it not odd at all to any of you that the "welcome message" on the two nearly identical websites are nearly EXACTLY the same? This school, especially for the reason that the majority of students are extremely unhappy with how the administration has handled things, should prioritize this program. Being dean should be a full-time job, considering this is a relatively new program, with its first class graduating this year.

Is it too much to ask that the welcome message on our website at least be unique?

Google: SGUL UNIC Medical School and do the following: > About Us > Welcome Messages > Message from the Executive Dean

    compare that to:

Google: Galen University and do the following: >About Us > Welcome Message

The Executive Dean of the University of Nicosia Medical School has a successful track record of developing opportunities and providing access to quality education for students around the world. He established the first health sciences programmes in Cyprus in 1998, as a prelude to forming the first medical school in the country, which happened in 2011 when the St George’s, University of London medical programme was launched in partnership with the University of Nicosia. He and a group of academics founded Galen University in Belize in 2002, as a social project with a focus on sustainable development aimed at supporting the country’s development goals, and he served for 3 years as its founding president (2002 - 2005). Galen University has established dual award relationships with a number of US universities, including the University of Indianapolis (2003 to 2014) and currently with the University of North Carolina - Wilmington for post-graduate degrees in education. In 2014 the Board of Galen University asked Prof ************ to oversee an administrative transition at Galen in an interim and honorary (unpaid) capacity; this was completed in Dec 2014 with the appointment of a new Provost. It is also worth noting that Prof ************ serves as a member of advisory boards of select universities and medical schools around the world that have a focus on expanding access to quality international education.

I had copy-pasted both posts to see for myself & compare before they were erased. They each shared the same photo too Lol
    Here they are:

The partnership between St George’s, University of London and the University of Nicosia opens up access to talented students from around the world to pursue a graduate-entry MBBS degree from one of the UK’s premier medical schools at the leading independent university of Cyprus. Such partnerships are encouraged by the European Commission through its directives on inter-university collaboration across the member states of the European Union.
St George’s 250 years of history and excellence in medical education, coupled with a dynamic and comprehensive university in Cyprus, ensure a rich learning experience for our MBBS students. Through our partnership with St George's, all medical students at the University of Nicosia will have access to the same e-learning facilities that are available to students in London. The innovative and student-centred curriculum allows for the early development of clinical skills and behaviours, and promotes collaborative learning, critical thinking and reflection – skills that are essential for a career in medicine.
The success of the St George’s graduate-entry curriculum, the first of its kind in the United Kingdom, has led many other medical schools around the world to create similar programmes. However, this is the first time that the St George’s MBBS degree is delivered outside of the UK, which offers students a unique opportunity for an exciting international experience in medical education.
The University of Nicosia, built on the principles of a liberal democratic university, welcomes students from over 80 different countries and is a place where you will feel included from the very start. We look forward to welcoming you to Nicosia and to the St George’s MBBS programme.

    A great place to study!
Galen is justifiably proud of its tradition as an innovative, quality-oriented institution serving the needs of Belize and Central America through education, scholarship and service to the community. We take great pride of being a community-oriented institution focused on the principles of sustainable development. Galen is a signatory institution to the Talloires Declaration and a member of the Association of University Leaders for a Sustainable Future.
Galen University offers innovative educational programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in business, arts and sciences, education and technology. Galen University’s mission is to provide excellent educational programs that allow students to achieve their dreams and goals. To support this mission, Galen has established educational partnership agreements with institutions that share a commitment to global education.
Galen University in Belize is a wonderful place to pursue an undergraduate or a postgraduate degree programme, or spend a term as a study-abroad student. Galen welcomes international students who benefit from the rich history and culture of Belize, which reflects its unique situation as a Central American country, a part of the network of Caribbean countries and a member of the Commonwealth. Belizean culture draws from its heritage of Maya, Creole, European, Garifuna, Mestizo, East Indian, Chinese, North American and German Mennonite groups who have made Belize their home. Within a short drive from the University, students can study and enjoy inland rainforests, diverse wildlife, pristine rivers, and many ancient Mayan temples.
As Central America’s only English speaking country, Belize offers students the chance to live, as well as study, in the English language. It also offers a culturally diverse population, low cost of living, a stable parliamentary democracy, and a rich history and environment. This exciting learning environment coupled with quality education will challenge and support you to do your best and ensure that you always excel, in learning and in life.
We look forward to welcome you to Galen and to Belize.

Pretty much, but I think the demand for doctors is part of the reason (same with nurses). There's a lot of people getting old and more health care will be needed in the future. Unfortunately, it dilutes the quality of the education and treatment along the way.
