Update on Cyprus Bailout and Medical School

    Advertisements

    Dear all,

I am sure many of you have been hearing about developments surrounding a possible European Union financial aid package for Cyprus. Although that matter is still not resolved, I want to reassure you that our Medical School is unaffected by these developments. We also do not anticipate any future issues because the Medical School is in a strong financial position and well insulated from any possible effects.

In the wider economy, all banks are still operating their ATMs and businesses are open as usual. Our students are going about their normal routine and studying as hard as ever!

If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with me.

I had been wondering about that, Tipton. Thanks for the update.

Hell of a situation, though, innit?

Well, that is somewhat different from what is said on news - either come up with few billion eur from within the local economy or default on Monday. If they do protect smaller deposits up to 100K, then larger ones will suffer up to 40% loss. I hope SGUL N keeps its ££ outside Cypriot government reach.. Same goes for students although unlikely any of them will have more than 100K spare ...
Also, looks like local banks won't be able to support student loans with so much $h.. hitting the fan.. Just being positive

I’d like to update you on the financial situation in Cyprus. The EU has approved a financial assistance package, which ensures the viability of the overall economy and banking system in particular, and banks will reopen on Thursday. As noted earlier, our Medical School is unaffected by these developments thanks to its strong financial position.
