Question to successful applicants and current students.

The decision to study medicine has most definitely been a serious one for me during my under grad degree. Now that I am about to finish I really would like a new experience and a change of scene. Going to miss England for sure if I do decide to go abroad.

So what's Nicosia like? I hear only good things.

Also, as for entry requirements, I meet all the prerequisites but the 'satisfactory GAMSAT score' is a little ambiguous. What did current students and 2012 entry people get? What score is actually expected?

Btw. I got 60, but will retake as I'm applying to for 2013 entry and don't think its competitive enough?

    Thanks in advance,

    DM

PS. The uni sounds amazing and very diverse, right up my street.

    Dear DM,

Apologies for the late reply, we have just completed our first year of medical school :-)

As i understand it, most universities have different GAMSAT cutoff scores. This depends on how the application pool did on the exam (basically you have to be "ahead of the curve" so to speak, something like the top 20%) If you're in the top 20% of GAMSAT scores, then you're probably in with a good chance. Of course, this is also subject to different universities section pass mark policies as some uni's put an emphasis on particular sections. I've heard that as a "general rule of thumb" you should be aiming to get at least 55 in ALL sections as a minimum.

I got a score of 62 when I applied. But again, it really all depends on where you are on the curve.

I hope this clarifies things a little bit more for you.

    Kind Regards

    Hello Kaich,

I was also wondering about how competitive my grades are and my MCAT score (am studying in the US right now). I have a 3.6 gpa and 27Q on the MCAT. Do you think that's competitive enough for the Fall 2013 class?

I've been looking at all the school has to offer and it looks very interesting. I really like it! Please let me know what you think!

    Hi Tipton,

Thanks for answering my question. So, you said that I would need to submit my application ASAP. Is there a deadline, or a time that would be too late to apply for the fall 2013 semester? I am a senior in college now, so I am hopefully going to be entering medical school next year fall.

Also, I know you said that my grade meet the minimum criteria, but what do you think my chances are of getting an interview? Does everyone that meets the minimum get an interview?

Finally, how many students are they admitting for the fall 2013 semester and how competitive does it get?

    Thanks again!
