    coming Sept/or Jan '04

    Advertisements

Thank you currentstudent for all your valuable information.
It means much more from a student who is currently attending
Spartan than someone who went there in the past but failed or
someone who will be going there with (rumors)...etc..etc.
I am intending to go in September, but will probably defer it till
January '04. Just wanted to post myself on this forum just to
get acquainted with the system and current and future students. I have been keeping an eye out on these unofficial forums for the past 8-9 months and Spartan is definitely headed in the right direction. I chose Spartan ($26-30K for basic sciences-tuition & living) over SABA ($50-55K), MUA ($45-50K) an Ross ($$$!) Good luck currentstudent on your first trimester and all you starting in Sept. ....will probably see you all during your 2nd & 3rd. trimester.
keep us informed on your leisure time.
    peace

    Hey

    Hey there!

So how come you may defer till Jan ? I am going in Sept myself. I have spoken with a few that are going in September as well. Actually I spoke with a couple today. Yeah, it is nice to speak with some people who are actually going. I have spent about a good month and a half and spoke to no one but one other person. It kinda makes you wonder, like you said.
Apparently, the person that I talked to today knows a couple over there and they have nothing but good things to say about the school. The girl even said that this girl is "picky" so I guess that being that she likes it, it is good. Take it for what it's worth.

Yeah, the main reason I chose it, one of the ones, is the tuition. You hear all kinds of things about the faculty on here. I think that's the biggest thing. However, in speaking from my experience, and the few others that I have spoken with, they are very friendly to them as well. My dealings have been with ******h, Sheila, and Jeff. All have been helpful and willing to answer questions.

I must admit, after reading a lot of the rumors that you eluded to, I began to second guess my decision, but most of the statements seem to come by people who post and leave, or who don't state who they are. You hate to seem a skeptic and seem questioning authenticity, but when it comes to your life, you have to look out for number one, especially after someone posts certain statements. You would be a fool to just ignore it.

I guess now that I have spoken with several people and the faculty, I can be more at ease. I"m just looking forward to getting on the island, doing a good job, passing the boards, and outshining med students from the US All kidding aside, I just want to get this thing going.

    Chris
Sometimes in life we have to be honest with ourselves in what it is in our best interest, even though it goes against our "want's" or egos.

    $$

The reason why I deferred till Jan-'04---
I can use a little extra cash when I decide to leave my career here in the U.S. and commit to medicine in another country...am currently a microbiologist who have been working for the past 4 years. I believe in order to succeed in medicine... one must make big sacrifices... money, family, friends, good times, leisure times, relationships, etc. .... therefore a few extra months will help.
Hope everything else is ok with you all..
