    Potential Transfer

    Advertisements

I am a current medical student at another school on the island (you'll probably guess which one). I am currently unsatsisfied with the way things are being run here and I am seriously considering transferring to Spartan.

With that being said, I was hoping current Spartan students, admin, or whoever, could answer a few questions for me:

    1. Why does the school have such a bad rep amongs the valuemd community? From what I have read, the school is under new ownership and is heading in a better direction, but what did the old admin do that was so bad? and how have things changed?

    2. Now that Spartan is gonna land NY clinicals, and likey residencies, is there an influx of students that will change the "small class size" that the school prides itself on?

    3. What about tuition? I love the low cost, but now that NY approval is on the horizon, will the school raise tuition to that of AUA which has similar status? or are students able to "lock in" their current semester tuition for as long as their students?

    4. The website listed the courses for basic sciences, but it doesnt show what order and when these classes are taken. Is 1st semester Anatomy and Physio like at most medical schools? Or is it some other order for the many classes on the website?

    5. My biggest concern is doing well on Step 1 while limiting my debt. How are the subjects of Physio, Pharm, and Pathology taught? Are there helpful powerpoints or are students completely reliant on self study?

    6. What is a typical school day like? is attendence mandated? or are students free to take the day to study?

    7. the website says that there is a shuttle for students. I know by being on the island that many students have drivers. Why?

Any help would be greatly appreciate as I look to make a decision in the next few weeks.

    Thanx in advance

    Not The Right Approach

If you are on the Island, you should go to the school and see for yourself. This is the best approach. Posting questions online is not the best way of approaching something as important as transferring to another school.

This is not a legitimate student seeking transfer. This is one of those IAU phony IDs trying to generate negative discussion on this forum. Any student on the island would know how to get in touch with Spartan and find out first hand the answer to whatever it is that they are looking for.

Donít respond to this message and donít fall for the IAU generated **.

Wow, of course I can get the info from the school, but I thought Value MD was also for prospective students to get additional information. It's currently a Saturday afternoon, and i was looking for a little food for thought, for things to ask more about when I am able to get official info on Monday. Funny that Crane thinks I'm admin, that's halarious, but I guess with my one posting it's not too hard to believe. Actually I created a new Value MD account because I was too concerned about my school finding out about me looking else where. Maybe Crane wont help me but if anybody can respond or PM me with any info I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Chew on this for now

There is plenty on this on this forum. Just do a search.

    2. Now that Spartan is gonna land NY clinicals, and likey residencies, is there an influx of students that will change the "small class size" that the school prides itself on? The school is set up to be small.

    3. What about tuition? I love the low cost, but now that NY approval is on the horizon, will the school raise tuition to that of AUA which has similar status? or are students able to "lock in" their current semester tuition for as long as their students? Ask the school.

    4. The website listed the courses for basic sciences, but it doesnt show what order and when these classes are taken. Is 1st semester Anatomy and Physio like at most medical schools? Or is it some other order for the many classes on the website? Look at the online school catalog.

    5. My biggest concern is doing well on Step 1 while limiting my debt. How are the subjects of Physio, Pharm, and Pathology taught? Are there helpful powerpoints or are students completely reliant on self study? Everything is on power point. Go and sit through those classes and see for yourself.

    6. What is a typical school day like? is attendence mandated? or are students free to take the day to study? Has been discussed here before. See the school's website and catalog.

    7. the website says that there is a shuttle for students. I know by being on the island that many students have drivers. Why? Picks up and returns students to-and-from their homes free of charge.

Any help would be greatly appreciate as I look to make a decision in the next few weeks.

Here is a food for thought: Wait until Monday!

    Admission Q's

It is common sense to visit the Dean of the college you want to transfer. No one ask such questions in open forum. What do u think the Dean of Spartan will answer you on valuemd.

You know it's a sad day, when forum's like valuemd don't do what they are supposed to because indivduals like this Crane character have used this avenue to discourage people from it's intended use, and instead wanted to promote hidden agenda's. It is clear from looking at Crane's post what his agenda's are and where his allegance lies. Notice however that I never address Crane directly, that's because to that would mean me stooping to a level that is at an all time low for any respectable human being. That guy is a disgrace to this forum and the true definition of a loser! Fortunatley, however I AM on the island, and will be able to get the info I need without trouble. I guess I was hoping to get TOO MUCH info from Value MD, and i appreciate those of you who told me that in a respectful way. It's clear who has class in these forums and who doesn't. DEUCES!

1- It is good idea to see the Dean of basic sciences, have a meeting with some faculty in the college you like to transfer.

2- Ask the faculty to show you some questions of previous inhouse exams. You can judge, what you are heading for....

For get about the forums, the school you are trying to transfer is just few minutes away, do not waste your time on forum.

GOOD LUCK. I wish you success
