    should i apply?

    Advertisements

    Hello
I am having a little trouble about applying to medical school. I graduated from a university in New Jersey in JAn. 2009.
My gpa cumulative is 3.0- I have had a few bad grades and I have retaken a few science courses.
    University gpa: 2.72
    Community College 1 gpa: 3.61
    Community college 2 gpa: 3.66
I have not taken the MCATs yet.

I have plenty of volunteering hours and I have worked in a hospital my four years as an undergrad.

Should I bother applying to medical school yet or should I wait and take more classes to bring my gpa up?

If you feel that you are ready to attend medical school and meet all the requirments there is no reason not to apply. If you find out you need to bring up your gpa (as an example) then you can do that. I would not continue taking classes you may not need for no reason though.

Spartan Medical School: Any Doc Will Do

I am checking out different Caribbean university and I kinda like spartan, but I am wondering about the article that I found

search in google: "Spartan Medical School: Any Doc Will Do"

it mentioned that how spartan banned in California and how they want to wipe of its name from other states? is that safe to go and study there while spartan may lose its credibility in all the states?
if some one have any information regard this please clarify???

If Cali is where you want to practice than I suggest you attend one of the big three or four (that currently have it). SHSU is one of the oldest schools in the Carib, for that reason they were on the Cali list until Cali started doing site visits and requesting that schools meet certain requirments. As a small school trying to keep costs down they pursued the issue but were not able to comy in the 1980's. The school is under new management now and they are extremely driven and proficient in medical education standards. I am almost positive that Cali is on their list of "to do's). With the experience of the new management and the speed at which they got ny Cali is probably not to far off in the future, at least in my opinion. Although the opinion piece you refer to was written it offers absolutely no factual informtion that could be applied to today's SHSU (aside from telling it's location). Take a good look at the school and what it has to offer, it will provide you a great education that will prepare you for not only exams but for the hospitals as well. Hope this helps feel free to post another question or MSG me if you want to know anything else.
