No Spin Zone, Spartan Nobel Prize

I hope that in this section of this forum, we can refrain from personal attacks and we can look at the facts.

I am holding in my hand a few articles concerning the 1999 Nobel Peace Prize. Out of respect for this Spartan physician, I will keep his name private. However, I would like to post a little of what was said about him.

According to the articles on this Spartan physician:

    Article 1:

"Physician is among those to be honored for Nobel Peace Prize... doctor will take a break from helping the needy around the world... to help pick up the Nobel Peace Prize."

    Article 2:

"[name of spartan physician] will be among those in Oslo to recieve the Nobel Peace Prize being awarded to Doctors Without Borders."

    Article 3:

"the Norwegian Nobel Committee invited [name of spartan doctor] among a few others to Oslo to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for Doctors Without Borders."

This Spartan graduate has also won all kinds of honors and awards, which I don't have the time to post. He has a very impressive resume. He completed his residency in the USA in Ob/Gyn and has completed a fellowship in Gyn/Onc. He worked around the world (Africa, China, Phillippines).

I looked on the website where he currently works and here was the first few lines of his credentials:

    [name of spartan doctor]
Nobel Peace Prize, Doctors Without Borders, 1999
    Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology

    Live with it...

Yet so many of the USA newspapers, the Prime minister of St. Lucia, some of the top institutions, etc, all disagree with you guys.

Please keep in mind, that we learned about all of this thru the media because I never personally knew Sean. The allegiation that you guys are making is that he never got a plaque, that he made one up, etc... But when you make such an allegiation you have to back it up with proof, good hard evidence. How do you know that as part of the ceremony they didn't bring up to 20 or 30 or more MFS docs to get honored?? Are we just suppose to take your words for it? But aren't you the same people who spend most of your time school bashing?

Forgetting about the Nobel prize for a second, most of you guys know next to nothing about Spartan. Even the one or two of you whom have been to Spartan were not at the same Spartan as the Spartan of today. We know that the Spartan of today has much improved with the expansion of laboratories, computers, library, a new building, offices for the professors, physical diagnosis rooms (the week of the PM visit, they screened over 200 St. Lucian people for DM, HTN, etc.), a new gym, a better relationship with the local government, etc, etc...

Once in a while someone will come in to this forum and enlighten us of some of the recent developments and instead of listening to him or her, you guys will jump all over them with your chronic negative, annoying, ridiculous **!!!! And we are suppose to trust you?

More, although I would like to keep the details of my personal life private, I am a Spartan alumni and just put it this way, in regard to board scores and residency placement, I have done as well as, if not much better than a graduate from a top USA university.

The same is true for many other Spartan grads, the professor is a sub-specialist and department director. Many of my friends are at top institutions in this country but Spartan is a very small school, they do not pump out as many graduates as other big schools which accept over 300 students per class. If Spartan has 20 or so students per class, then it would take over 15 classes to reach just one class of some of these other schools. 3 classes per year, that takes 5 years, to equal only one big school class. Spartan is the only "old" carib school to stay small. And it is the only one to stay affordable. Sure they could have/can become big but that is not their mission and I wouldn't have gone there, had they become an over 300 per class school.

Had I not been so successful and not known anything about Spartan, I would probably have accepted the nonsense of the chronic negative posters that frequent this forum. Most of whom either have never been to medical school or are still in other medical schools, most of them at the basic sciences level. Super-impose a couple of bitter grads such as mindprobe and greendogz (all schools have them, even AUC, Ross, sgu, saba, etc..) and then you have a better picture of what is going on here.

The articles are there. Keep in mind, this guy graduated from Spartan and completed his fellowship at the best cancer research center in American and argueable in the entire world. He is one of many, many more... Live with it..

    pass?

    Shock and Awe,
man, you couldn't have found a better name to describe yourself.
You'll probably take what i'm about to say as being insultive or whatever ('cos the truth can sometimes have a bitter taste), but I'll say it anyway, 'cos your public show of disgrace has warranted it.
Now, I remember you saying that you are a Spartan graduate. Well that pre-supposes that you are (supposed to be) a practicing doctor right now.
Well, based on your inability to 'see' the things that have been expressly shown to you via analogies, links, e.t.c, I have NO DOUBTS in my mind S&A, that you have not passed the USMLE board exams, because your level of understanding seems to be 'low on gas', (yet we know that good, quick understanding is vital to passing the board exams). Maybe that explains why you indicate 'siberia' as your location, due to your not being licensed in the U.S.
The ONLY FACTOR in the world that can exclude you from my 'diagnosis' is the hope that you are just trying to be a 'do-or-die' type alumni- so you really do see that you are 'not making sense', but you are hoping that we will read the stuff you post with 'open eyes, but sleeping brains'. If this 'till death do us part' alumni stance is your case, my advice to you is to just place this Nobel issue in your 'closed' file, and quit embarrasing yourself (and the school you're trying to stand up for) on the net- it really just paints a picture of you being dumb. Honestly, and insults apart, it really makes you look dumb.
..Aluta Continua, Victoria Acerta! (..the struggle continues, victory is sure!)

    You're an absolute genius!!!

You're right.. I'm not a "TrueDoc". I went to Spartan, then failed step 1 and qualified for nothing and became a big loser. Now because Spartan has made me so unqualified, on my spare time, I just like writing nice things about them and about all the wonderful things that they have done for me. You caught me TrueDoc. You really are a smart guy, genius... I thought I almost pulled a fast one on you, boy, was I wrong. Oh well, I must concede, you are way too smart for me.. -s&a
