It can be done-no matter what school you go to.

Just a note of encouragement to all spartan students. Yes the boards can be passed. Just stay focused on why you are on the island and why you chose to leave the comfort of your home to spend time away from your loved ones. The island is not a holiday resort. While I was there it was amazing how some students percieved their time there to be holiday time. And it was no surprise when some struggled throughout the course and the best they could do was to blame the school and the teachers for their own deficiencies.
Yes you can make it, only if you are willing to pay the price with your blood and sweat. It's no joke,if you think it's supposed to be easy, try a different career. Not even your intelligence alone will see you through, but your sacrifice and diligent studying. You will have sleepless nights and you will lose weight. During rotations you will appreciate how good this school really is. I found myself to be well prepared because spartan taught me self-study which is what postgraduate work is all about.
Now I am on my way to residency with a bunch of my classmates from the class of Dec 2004. With a score of 92 on step 2 not much can stop me now. AHOY comrades - BE INSIPRED. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!

    Just be focused

    Hi,
I do agree with your point. I have just finished my first semester and will be starting with second after the break. Let me tell you'll that I enjoyed the hard work especially physio and anatomy. I have worked sleepless nights to honour these classes (but was unable). We were lucky to have such versatile teachers. I have thanked Dr. S for teaching us Anatomy and I have been proud to be his student. I now know the way to focus on my next semester. I wish to let know all newcomers to be on your toes from day one - no shortcuts.

Hey startmed. Welldone for coming through the first trimester. You should find the second one better to deal with. Let me know if you need help with any tips. I can be your invisible mentor. PM if you like.

Spartan is a great school, and I've always admired its students for being so devoted to what they are doing. Spartan was always on my list, and you never know....
I need to think about something...maybe you know what...

congrats!!you like the hundreds of currently practicing successful physicians from Columbia to Cornell,to Yale,King Faisel center ,to to to...etc
I believe Spartan provides good education based on what I researched but the major problems are the admin running on low budget and the rumors and bashing of others to your school.
    good luck

I am so proud of you buddy. This is ample evidence that students sometimes are their own worst enemies when they choose to stray away from the mission. It can be done. Look at that 99er, boys and girls!! Straight from spartan, so why cant you do it too?

another grade back for the dec 2004 class!!! step 2 97%.. It's so funny how "drop outs" and other skeptical people "bad mouth" our school. It's true that Spartan gives anyone the chance to achieve their goals------and many don't make it through.. But the ones that do make it-----make it very well !!!!!! (class 2004 basic sciences step 2 92%, 97%, 99%, 99%)--and others still to come!
