    Students transferring into SMU clinicals

    Advertisements

I think I remember one of the recent newsletters commenting on how SMU hasn't accepted any transfers into clinicals for the past few semesters. That's a load of B_S.

One of the people in my current rotation JUST transferred in from Ross, and he said he knows of at least 4 others that just did as well. Now I don't really care if they transfer in or not, as far as I'm concerned I like to talk to them about their experiences on island and how Cayman compares to Dominica in terms of island life and basic sciences. If they want a better opportunity for clinicals, I'm fine with that as well because I was contemplating transferring out for the final 2 years...

The thing that bugs me is that SMU categorically lied to us all by putting in print those words about SMU not accepting transfers into clinicals. If they lied about this, who knows what else they lied to us about. 97% 1st-time pass rate? I'm calling their bluff.

    i aint surprised at all . . . . . .

But i do have to say I am starting to the get the feeling from smu that we might actually have a surplus of clinical sites and that is why they accepted these ross transfers. But what is going to happen when the next big class heads into rotations.

Its great that we seem to have a surplus, but at the same time a good chunk of the sites are blue (non acfmgmebshsjhgks approve). Now smu just has to work on getting more green.

This doesn't surprise me either. I recall the admin making the same claim that transfers must repeat 5th semester and I saw a few transfers that went straight into clinicals. This is not new. I'm surprised that the school was stupid enough to put that in writing.
