    50 States

    Advertisements

I'm compiling a list of all the states where people that have graduated from or currently attend SMU can either do rotations or get licensed in a particular state. Please be patient will take me some time to get this completed.

SMU grads can practice in CO after becoming board certified in their specialty. NM I last heard is no longer using the Cali list, or is not as restrictive.

    California...disapproved.

VT, TN, & ID (not sure about Idaho) follow the Cali list.

Indiana does accept licenses from other states but it is up to the Med board's discretion. In the past SMU graduates were not allowed to do residency, this has since changed. Residency is ok, but there could be some potential problems with licensure.

Texas lists SMU as a questionable school (due to the Cali decision), but I was informed by the TMB that it would be on a case by case basis (I have the email proving this).

Kansas has the 15 year rule, which states that the medical school has to be in operation for at least 15 years. Interestingly, there is a SMU grad doing residency there (but this doesn't mean that licensing is okay).
