Is it the same down there?

Do you guys hear rumors about your school shutting down? Do you ever have problems with finding professors to teach a course? Do you have limited space with such large class sizes? Do medical students invade your classrooms and student lounge? Is school stability really even an issue for your school?

I'm a vet student at St. Matthew's and I'm just wondering if the things that I am experiencing is along the same lines as any caribbean veterinary student. Thanks.

    not the same

Sorry to hear about the issues you are facing at St. Matthews. I am hoping some of the SGU vet students will hop on here and tell you what school is like for them at SGU. The one comment I do want to make, is I fully plan on retiring from SGU, (and I have at least 25 years left to make that happen), so that should answer your question about students hearing rumors of us shutting down...... It's simply not going to happen.

Anyone can always check out our faculity list on our website or in our vet catalog. We have a couple of professors who authored, or helped author books that are used in many of the vet schools across the U.S.

    Good luck.

Are all those things happening at St. Matthews?

I just started at SGU and it is great so far. Our entering class size is about 70 students and we have plenty of profs and space. The school is constantly expanding and building new buildings, adding new possible degrees, etc - so we definitely aren't shutting down. Anyways, good luck! =)

Not that I ever heard of. Someone always showed up.

They just built a large lecture hall and surgery suite...things can get a little tight with large groups on the "farm" or at the VTH though.

Well, any students can go to study anywhere unless there are lectures or the room is reserved for a function or something like that. Other than this, there aren't really any specific places for med or vet students. First come first serve.

Not really, it is not without the occasional frustration though...but not because of stability.

I am sure its not easy...but going to a newer program will have risks for this stuff...or so I would guess. Haven't they recently built some new vet facilities there? This seems like an investment they wouldn't allow to go to waste.

They have built a surgical suite. And it's a fantastic facility. But there are so many other issues that we are facing. A few St. Matthew's students have left and have entered St. George's. And I'm curious as to whether they enjoy St. George's more. If anyone knows who these people are, please have them contact me.
