Thanks for the news JB! Keep working on Minnesota and Iowa and I will be ecstatic when they finally wake up!

Also...any continuing updates on the accreditation/consult progress will be greatly appreciated!

    Can't wait for August!!!

    Colorado

    Jeff:

Any idea if SGU school of veterinary medicine is working in having an affiliation with Colorado State University for 4th year students?

I think SGU would love to have CSU as a choice and we have probably sent them the paperwork to do so, however, Dr. B (who is primarily in charge of this sort of thing) says we are far away to never with them.

Word has it that Cornell may be quite close. We have several VP's from there.

Schools that are probably far off are: Tufts, Davis, CSU, Michigan...thats all I can think of. Actually I did hear a rumor that Tufts may be an option soon. Could be way off though.

p.s. You probably shoulda started this in a new thread since it has nothing to do with PAVE

    affiliations

Final thought on the affiliation question:

This is always a tough question to answer as there are so many factors involved. SGU is always looking to add additional sites, but even after both schools have initially agreed, it could take years for all the official contracts to get written and signed.

There is one school we had almost finalized an agreement with, and then that school changed Deans, and the entire process had to be restarted.

Other schools simply have not had any additional room to take some of our students, but since the ECFVG is doing away with the additional clinical year, that may open up some spots allowing us to add on new schools.

As it stands, we are affiliated with 22 of the 28 schools in the U.S, 2 out of 4 in Canada, 2 in the UK, 1 in Ireland and 1 in Australia. So there certainly are plenty of choices. I hope ALL of the students are taking advantage of the clinical meetings that take place in Grenada every year where a representative from each school gives a presentation about their programs. I know the first thought for many is to pick a school, close to home, but the school closest to home, may not be the best school to help you fulfill your specific interests.

You would think that a state that has 34 million people and produces ~200 DVM's a year would want to participate. Getting UCDavis on board would make soooo much sense for both institutions.
