    AA and no pets?

I heard that American is no longer accepting pets for flights to Grenada, has anyone else heard the same? If true, are there other options to getting pets down there?

Try calling Amerijet. They fly cargo (and dogs) throughout the Caribbean out of Miami. I have a friend that works there.

I don't know a whole lot about it...but YES...this is true. As I understand it AA is only doing this for certain blackout periods and not in totality. However, these blackout periods seem to be during the times when students are travelling (Dec - Jan and May - Aug).

This WOULD be a great alternative...and has been used often for pets. However, from what I hear Amerijet is, or is going to be soon, routing its travels through Barbados. This is an extremely large problem because Barbados does not allow pets b/c it is rabies (and others) free. Therefore, the best case scenario is that your pet will be turned around and not end up in Grenada (you can guess what the worst case scenario might be).

So...what can be done, you might ask? Well it seems as if SGU is 'putting the feelers out' for interest in chartering some sort of pet-friendly flights. There isn't too much information out right now, but they have sent all the vet students a survey on some details about how feasible this chartered flight might be. Also, I don't know if they will look into chartering flights both ways so you can get pets down here also.

You should call Bayshoria about this to get the most certain answers. There is a chance that they don't know much about it though...more information will follow as the end of this term draws near.

Does anyone have any updated information on whether or not sgu is still thinking about offering a chartered flight for students with pets?

Haven't heard anything, but I'll ask around. There's an SGA meeting next week and I should be able to see some people that are on that committee or are working on that issue (I can't remember if there is an actual committee for this or just a group of concerned students working together)

PM me so I don't forget.

Thanks orthonut for the reply. Do you know if any students who are still able to bring their small pets in the cabin of any airplane to grenada? It seems AA is making it real hard for the students with pets. I couldnt imagine not being able to bring my 2 cats.
    Ill PM you too.

    Thanks

Some of the most recent posts on the SGU yahoo forum HERE seem to have more info than I can help you with!

Good luck...and just so you know (in case you don't), american eagle is only eliminating pet flights during certain blackout periods...not in entirety.
