    Florida Clinicals Info

    Advertisements

    Hey everyone!

I'm an out-going 5th term student and I applied for Florida as my first choice for clinicals (I'm from the south Florida area and I'm homesick). I just wanted to know if anyone can tell me which rotations are available in the area. The hospital list that was emailed to us was confusing the way it was written. I gathered that IM, Peds, and OB can be done there and the rest of the rotations I will be going to Queens. Is this right?

It may be too late for me to change my first choice for rotations but hopefully this will shed some light on just how long I will be home.

    Thanks for your help!

Clin Ed. We were supposed to go there after finishing in Stockton and they told us that we wouldn't be going there as they have cut down on the students they are taking and instead will be placed somewhere else.

They assured me otherwise not more than a month ago. That's ridiculous. So, I applied for Florida rotations but I'm only spending 3 months there for IM?

I don't want to give you misinformation. All I know is that the students who have done Ob/Psych at Queens Hospital Center, then gone to San Joaquin General for IM and Surgery and then finished with Peds at Miami Childrens have now been told that we will not be doing Peds at Miami Childrens. Out of curiosity when did they tell you you were doing Peds at Miami Childrens?

ClinEd emailed out the hospital list the day after Dean Weitzman gave his talk. For Florida rotation it clearly says Peds for Miami Children's and they later confirmed this. Could it be that the Miami Childrens' Peds rotations are exclusively for the people who get the Florida rotations?

Very interesting. Like I said, that list with all the letters on it was way too confusing.
