Social Security Number (SSN) needed for California Letter (PTAL)

    Advertisements

I am Canadian. I am reading on the PTAL requirements and one of them being SSN. It is read: "If you fail to disclose your social security number, you application for initial licensure will not be processed AND you will be reported to the Franchise Tax Board, which may assess a $100.00 penalty against you." Do we need SSN? If we do, how long is the application process gonna take? Thanks!

Cant get PTAL processed w/o an SSN & cant get SSN as a Canuck (nothing which seems doable for someone who's posting on a student forum and on such short notice) unless you're going the long route where you're already in a residency spot and the hospitals agreed to work with you on something like an H1B

    Cali as Canuck? SOL apparently

There is a way to get SSN but it seems a bit too much to do. First register yourself as a full time student at a Cali community college or university, the school will issue letters for you to apply for SSN.

    Dear Cocci,

Could you please let me know how she got the non-working SSN? SSA says that even for a non-working SSN there are specific requirements. I got a letter from MBC stating that I need SSN for the PTAL, but some people mentioned that SSA does not accept this letter as an enough evidence. Thank you in advance.
