    How competitive are California residencies

    Advertisements

    Hey all,

This question is for anyone who matched to a residency in California or knows anything about the process. I have heard that getting a residency in Ca is difficult, yet I have not been able to find out exactly how dificult so I am hoping someone knows. I am interested in coastal California (San Diego, Santa Barbara, San Fransisco etc). With a step 1 score of 232/99 do I have any chance or am I wasting my time? Thanks for any input

VERY competitive. University Programs (I am not talking about affiliates) are practically untouchable in Cali.

There have been several SGU grads who have matched to university programs in IM in California (specifically SoCal). Check out the recent SGU match lists and you'll see a few who got into USC....It's very hard though so you'll have your work cut out for you.

have the california letter in as soon as you can, apply to community programs in california and you'll match somewhere, although it might not be in a major city.
