    California and Family Medicine

    Advertisements

Is Family Medicine required to practice in California? Please note that I am NOT asking if I need to do FM rotation for a residency position. But the question is whether I need it for a fellowship position in California or for working in California after completing my residency.

As far as I can tell, yes. Requirements for licensing include the same requirements for PTAL.

Worth mentioning, by the way, that if you have any plans to practice in California at any point in time, it would be worth getting your hands on everything that is necessary now. Keep your L6 forms somewhere safe, along with a copy of your transcript, your diploma, etc. Getting all that stuff after you're further removed is simply a pain in the butt.
