What are you planning on applying for?

Did you do any rotations in Canada?

    Sweet... good luck!

    Please share your experiences.

I'm looking into doing IM as well (will come back to Canada if I can). I still have quite a while before applying for residency though!

It seems like many people think they are going to get IM in Canada.... boy are people mislead.

On the other hand many Canadians are trying for Pre-match in the USA. So it is split decision.

I don't think I have a good chance of coming back to Canada but will try hard to. I actually don't mind moving to the US though.

    What made you say that?

    What made you say that?
Because friends have told me. They are not applying for FM they are aiming for IM!!!

At the same time many have said if they are offered a prematch in the USA they will take it. So it is good and bad. Those who will get prematch are competitive in Canada and USA.

You never know what things will be like when you are applying. But there was a publication stating IMGs doing residency in Canada don't do well on FM boards. But that was a small study and I hope it does sway things.

Also Dalhousie started a program for MDs from outside LCME schools for them to repeat rotations (3rd and 4th year) in order to get Dalh MD degree. So someone is trying to be creative.. or so they think.

"Please note that the program is intended for newcomers to Canada. Canadians who attended off-shore medical schools are not eligible to apply. "
