Brooklyn Hospital Center, Coney Island, Jamacia Safety

    Advertisements

Can any student currently doing their rotation in any of these clinical sites, or if you have personally lived in these areas please give your opinion on
    1. The safety of commuting to and from these sites late at night
    2. Where to live that is safe and a short commute (20-30 minutes)
    Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I'm at TBHC, safe at night as long as you stay on the main streets, no problem walking to and from the subway alone (DeKalb and Nevins Stations). I live in the Financial District and it is a 7 min train ride and add on a 5 min walk. I have friends that live way down on 59th street in Brooklyn and it's still only a 15-20 min commute in the morning. Don't know about living in any of the areas around the hospital, didn't want to live there so I didn't really check it out. Lots of people live in Park Slope, some people live in Manhattan. Heard that Fort Greene is a nice area (right next to the hospital) but you might want to wait to hear from some more people who actually live in the area.

stick to west of middle village area... in that area it is much cheaper. if you go east, to bed-stuy, bushwick or brownsville you may be taking a chance... pay more and stay in west brooklyn of manhattan. some areas of south queens are quite good and also close to the city
The glass is neither half-full nor half-empty: it's twice as big as it needs to be.
