    Pennsylvania licensure

    Advertisements

Hope this may help some of you who had the same question I did about getting licensed in PA. I kept hearing that if we do away electives, we can't get licensed, and I was nervous because I already did 2 and am about to do my third.

The good news is, I called the PA licensing board today, and the guy told me they do not care about clinical clerkships. They do not look at them anymore. He said they used to but no longer do. He mentioned something about just having a transcript and the regular paperwork filled out. Call on your own just to double check but this is what they said to me

If someone can explain this whole Texas/CA and only doing electives that have an ACGME accreditation to me, that would be great. Does that mean if I am scheduled for a Pediatric Heme/Onc rotation, and the hospital does not have a fellowship in Pediatric heme/onc, that rotation wouldn't count?
Because if this is the case, I did Psychiatry at Danbury Hospital, and that hospital does not have a Psychiatry residency program.

Do any other states have rules like this???

    Bump...

Just want to bump this useful info up...
Plaque is a figment of the liberal media and the dental industry to scare you into buying useless appliances and pastes. Now, I've read the arguments on both sides, and I haven't found ANY evidence yet to support the need to brush your teeth. Ever.

    Follow up:

I too have just been informed by the PA licensing board (BPOA) that they no longer care about "out of network" electives. Please contact them for yourselves if in doubt ...but PLEASE do not post what you heard or think. This is a case where only actual facts matter.

ps. Perhaps this can be stickied as this info is pretty important (for some of us anyway).
