Hello all, just wondering what recreational things excpet for a tiny gym? I am athletic and love sports such as Tennis, basketball, and the like. Hard to imagine myself not being active for 2 years. Any ideas?

    Basketball, Hockey, Tennis

There are tennis courts up at Willard's. There is usually a basketbal game and/or a floor hockey game every week at the high school Gym. Lot's of people run. Lots of people lift weights. Students sometimes play softball with the locals. There is a lot of hiking, scuba diving, fishing.

There is a movie every Friday night at Tropics (I think they still do this), and there are two places to go dance (Galaxy and Hypnotik) if that's your thing.

The beach is still there (so I heard), so you can go down and sit by the ocean (watch for falling rocks!! ). Thee are also a nuber of swimming pools on the island where you can go sit and sun.

Can't think of anything else at the moment.

    Best of Luck!

    Hiking and Scuba

    Hey,
Hiking and scuba are Saba's main tourist draw. The island is covered with trails, and I haven't been in the water, but apparently it's world class scuba/snorkel. I imagine you could also kayak. For an active person who loves nature, there's plenty to do; for someone who's into passive, mindless entertainment, there's not much.

I'm planning on not owning a TV while on Saba. I'm looking forward to the challenge of a completely different style of living.

I don't know how you can flood the side of a mountain. It would be great if I didn't have to do a dance and sacrifice a baby goat every time I wanted to flush the toilet. One could only hope for standing water here.

That said- Things to do for fun here.... well the fun in the library (night before finals) was to stack really heavy books high on top of someones notes when they left to go to the bathroom. When they got back they were greeted by the entire collection of catalogged "Internal Medicine" from 1988-2004.

Dorm fun often involves combining the craziest guy in the dorms, a case of heineken, some fancy underwear, and a camera. Let the good times roll. Sometimes a rolling chair is thrown in to mix it up.

We really make our own fun, be it Hold 'em tournaments for food ( I see your heineken and raise you a cup of instant noodles ), swimming even though there is no beach (often resulting in various wounds), or relocating someones dorm room to the roof.

The bar scene isn't bad. There is a bar walking distance from the dorms (lolipops) that has drink specials post-exam days. Open mike night and good food at swinging doors, dancing at galaxy....

Then there is the forementioned hiking and diving. All I know is they don't mix with heineken well so I don't do them often.
It was torture.... straight torture son....

EITHER I AM NOT EXPRESSING IN THE CORRECT WORDS OR SOMETHING IS WRONG. I MEAN THAT IF IT IS HIT WITH A LOT OF RAIN LIKE IN A HURRICAIN THEN BECAUSE THE BOTTOM ACTS LIKE A CUP (IT IS A VALLEY) IT WILL FLOOD.
