Current student outreach to incoming student forum

There was a huge lack of information when I came to Saba and I would have really liked someone to tell me what to bring, what to expect and all the rest.

So I can't promise immediate replies, but I will try and anwer everyones questions.

    blue telephones

    hey new students
DO NOT use the blue phones. they charge like 30 bucks for connecting then 15 bucks per minute. i called home when i fisrt came here a couple times, not more than 20 minutes.
    MY BILL WAS OVER $400!!!!
also you only get hot water in the old dorms for 6 hours per day, 5-8 am and 3-6pm on the weekdays i think, and i think a couple hours later during the weekends.
you guys should get dorm rules immediately, before it's too late. also make sure to bring earplugs. the room i'm in, you cnat hear anything so it's pretty good, but with some rooms you can hear everything.
also, the taxi ride to the dorms is apparently supposed to be free. i paid money for mine, so make sure you dont. as far as the education, you all will love dr. srinathan. he teaches anatomy. just remeber "she looks too pretty, try to catch her!" you'll understand in 2nd block, upper limb. hahahaha.

    what the....?

Man I'm gone for a weekend and everyone starts talking about me! What's up with that?

Here's the damage of my weekend.

Round trip boat ride to St. Maarten ......... $72
My share of hotel for weekend ......... $60
My share of rental car for 2 days ......... $25
Cost of buying stuff I can't find on saba... $125
Beer and food for weekend ......... $100
    Platinum room ..........$ ???
Cost of slightly damaged 150cc scooter that I
bought instead of paying the deductable ... $2,100
Cost of fixing three panels on rental car .... $425
Likely hospital cost for x-ray of leg ..... $100

Explaining to your mom how you racked up $3,000 on your mastercard in under 24 hours and that it's OK to go ahead and take money out of your account to pay for all of it. ....... Priceless

To all you incoming 1st sems..... St. Maarten is a wild and crazy place. Please be careful if you're staying there for a couple of days before coming to Saba.
It was torture.... straight torture son....
