4th Year Saba Student Coming for a Visit to The Rock

    Advertisements

    Hey Everybody,

I left the island in August, 2003 and am returning for a visit with my wife and kids on December 20th. In May, 2005 I will graduate from SUSOM.

If there is any interest, I would be happy to meet with any students on the island over the Christmas break and discuss boards and rotations, or anything else that would interest them. There should be a sheet up on the announcement board in the cafeteria with my contact information and other details. I'll plan on being available the morning of either the 21st or 22nd. Or, if there are any individuals interested on this forum, PM me and we can try to set something up.

PS: Hey Researching Guy, are you guys going to still be around? Tell the fam I say howdy.

    Visiting Saba

    Hi JV,

Thanks for the offer to interact with current Saba students, and congrats...you are almost there! Just wondering about those of us who are joining Saba in January but would like to hear from you....how do we get to interact with you? Would it be a good idea to, say, you answer any questions from prospective students on this forum for those who will not be available on campus during your visit? We sincerely appreciate your time, and of course this request is at your convenience. We are proud of those who have gone ahead of us like you! Once more congrats in advance!

    hey JV,
thanks for wanting to take the time to share your SABA experience w/ us who will be embarking on our journey in medicine in these upcoming months. I was just wondering as to how long you were planning on staying on the Island when you come to visit in dec? I would love to meet with you and learn from you experiences however, I won't be arriving till late december. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to meet and talk...
    once again, congrats!
take care and have a safe trip to SABA!

    Howdy

    Hey Guys,

Sorry I won't be available any other mornings than the 21st or 22nd, as stated in my first message. This forum is Jam-packed with good information thanks to all the participants and guidance of Researching Guy. Therefore, I'd recommend studying it (the forum) to answer most questions to anyone who has a general curiosity or specific questions about Saba and the med school.

The reason I am meeting with anyone interested on the dates in question is that I remember how reassuring it was when I was on the island as a student to actually meet someone who had been in my shoes and was proving that the goals I had set were acheivable. I really don't have anything to offer other than my own personal experience. Anything I would say specifically about clinicals and Step I you will hear ad nauseum from your classmates and the administration, and any questions you might have about the island of Saba would be self-evident as we chat in the setting of a tropical paradise.

Good luck to all, and I look forward to meeting anyone who might be able to make it!

    Quicky

I am a 5th semester student and I will be here during the time you are, so I am wondering where you did your clinical rotations, and which electives you chose? Oh, and how do we get a hold of you on Dec 21,22 when you are here (maybe I missed where you said you will be staying)?

    Hi JV!!

    Hi JV,

I was very excited when I saw the flyer posted in the cafeteria. Alas, I will be leaving just as you are arriving. I'd love to hear about your experiences and I know there are a number of people here who are looking forward to talking to you.

My family says Hi! to yours and in case I never said it before, let me thank you and your family for helping to make our transition to Saba much easier.

If I don't see you before then (in the airport?), Happy Holidays!

9 AM Wednesday morning December 22nd at Scout's in Windwardside

    Hey everybody,

I have been contacted by a few interested people, so I thought I'd let everyone know that there will be a few of us meeting at Scout's in Windwardside on Wednesday, Dec. 22nd at 9 AM.

This meeting is not sponsored by and has no affiliation with the school by any means. It's just a friendly discussion about life on Saba, clinicals in the US, the USMLE, Wernicke's encephalopathy, or anything else that comes up. Any interested students are very welcome, and we look forward to meeting you!
