Why Saba Fails to care about their students!

I want to first say I never complain and always try to look at the bright side of things, but this post needs to be done. I am a current student at Saba med.. The school has its up and downs , but honestly the president of the school, Dr. Chu is not in touch with his students nor those the administration care AT ALL FOR THEIR STUDENTS NOR THEIR SAFETY. I am hoping that the administration sees this especially Dr. Chu. I am happy that this school allowed me to attend and I have made it very far in the program, so no I WAS NOT A DROP OUT AND NO I AM NOT BITTER BECAUSE THE PROGRAM IS HARD. I am mad because the school has around 200 American students that relies on their financial aid to pay rent, buy food, pay bills. It has been a month and some time now and none of the students are able to get their refund money and the school REFUSES to answer the question on why they haven't sent our money. We have talked to all the deans and they were told to stay out of financial aid and when Dr. Chu ( who supposedly cares about his students ) was asked why the student cant get their money before near the end of the semester, he simply answer that he knows NOTHING ABOUT THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT ( I thought it was the president job to know about major functions of the school ). Students are left not able to pay bills, buy food, pay rent and the school could care less. I am calling out SABA on their false statements of how they are there for their students. If you cant pay out of pocket for the expensive living cost to be on this island DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL. The hardship to do good in your classes and to worry about where your next meal comes from is not worth it. I have heard other school are there to support their students care for their students success Saba is not the school. President Chu you have failed to provide the simple things student needs , and that is self assurance that the school has the students well being in mind! If there is some one out there that has a little more insight on the legal matter on how schools handle financial aid please respond to my post. Things need to change at this school ! do your research before you come here !
p.s. please excuse my lack of proper grammar, I wrote this in a rush!

Mambostrike is 100% correct, this school is horrible and doesnt care if you die! They offer a poorly put together curriculum with some ridiculous foreign prof. You will not even have time to teach yourself anything because there is not time to study, ur in class 8a-5p m-f. Dont ruin your life, stay away from all R3 owned carribean schools

    Hello there,

I went to Saba in 2018 and I am from USA. What everyone in here saying is true. Mambostrike is correct. r.pacino0512 is correct. And the previous commenters are absolutely 100% true. This school is totally scam. On Saba school website the number of matching rate has been changed. The match rate was 99% in 2017 and in early 2018. But, it has changed to 94% in early July 2018, which is still wrong. Lol. Seriously, avoid this school and other Caribbean medical schools as well. The only professors I liked there was anatomy professors, Dr. Mhawi, and Dr. Young. Great upper level professors have left the school. Now, they have new professors. Dr. Robson and Dr. Huckfeldt won't go away. They will be at Saba for a long time. Devens love them, I suppose. Oh yeah--I received a false grade on my official transcript, too. If you decide to go here, make sure you have a strong background in science and able to teach yourself cause you WILL be going to teach yourself from 1st semester to 5th semesters because professors at Saba aren't great and often hires foreign prof. It is really hard to understand their accent. If you manage 1st, 2nd, and 3rd semesters, you will be okay in 4th and 5th. 2nd and 3rd semesters tend to be hardest and brutal. But, the point is if you cannot teach yourself the materials, you will not survive in this school and you will not make it to 5th semesters. If you are in 1st semester right now and struggling, get out. Seriously. Getting out of school with 20-45k debt is better than gambling throughout school and not getting into residency. Match rate they stated is completely false. If you fail a course, you will be on probation and you will be retaking a course. If you fail during probation, they will kick you out of the school. In 5th semester, if you fail "Exit exam" multiple times, they will kick you out.
Save your money. Go to US medical schools or DO or PA or NP route.
