    Question on CA licensing

    Advertisements

    Hello!

I have a question on the CA license thing. If I graduate from Saba tomorrow, and then they become CA approved in 5 years, is my degree from Saba CA capable? In other words, are all past graduates grandfathered in?

    ..

depends on the CA board when they decide on the approval if the approval is retroactive to when.

    Pat Park

Pat Park has said in the past the approvals will be retroactive. She has also said not to go to a school counting on them being CA approved. G

    Sticky ?

I should make this a sticky since it comes up constantly.

Please read the previously highlighted post from Pat Park. As I have stated many times before, I spoke to her on the phone a few years back and she told me just what she said in the referred post. There are no loopholes in the law. There is no reciprocity. Whether or not previous graduates of grandfathered schools are allowed to practice in California is decided when the school is or is not approved. However, she told me that it has always been the case that previous grads have been "grandfathered".

    Let's recap:

There is no guarantee that those who graduated before the school was approved by California will be allowed to apply for a license in California, but they always have been in the past.

Bottom line : If you absolutely have to practice in California, go to a school that is currently fully approved by California.

    Best of Luck!
