Dorm and post dorm bedding to bring

    Advertisements

    Hello all,
I have heard that it is a good idea to bring your own bedding to the island (sheets) and I was wondering what size is the best bet. There are some really nice sheets on clearance at Home Outfitters by my house and I want to buy them while I can. I assume the dorms have twins, but I am hoping that after the dorms I will at least get to upgrade to a double. Any ideas what is the most common bed size in the rentable housing on the island? Thanks for any help you can give.

I don't remember seeing any double beds, at least not in Matthew dorm. Don't know about Hillside.
Twin size sheets are what fits the beds in a lot of off-campus housing, too, so I'd go with that for now. You can always get more stuff when you go home for break after first semester.

Speaking for hillside- you are provided with bedding (sheets, pillow, pillow case) and a comforter. So you can spare yourself the extra luggage for now. I brought my own bedding but I just use the one they provided for now.

How are the beds? Comfortable or uncomfortable? Do we need a comforter-does it get cool enough for one? Do you suggest bringing our own bedding even though it is provided be hillside- is the bedding nice enough to use? As you can ascertain, bedding is important to me. There is nothing better than having a great place to sleep!

    Hillside-
Nicer than I expected, for what that's worth. Twin size. I think they're pretty comfortable. A comforter will be provided. Assuming you don't sleep in $1200 sheets and comforters, I think the bedding is also nice and very clean and well kept. Each room is a little different, but you'll be fine. As for coolness, yes it gets cold enough to use a comforter. Our A/C wouldn't shut off and it was 58 deg F in our quad for 3 days...arctic. Only bring bedding if you have room; otherwise, bring it 2nd semester when you have less luggage to haul from home.
