    Temperature?

    Advertisements

I thought this was already discussed so I ran a search on it but only came up with a good thread from St.Matthew .

So what's the weather like down in Saba? How hot is it on average days? Does it rain a lot? Would you recommend bringing long jeans just incase or does everyone there just wear shorts/skirts.

    Hmmm...

The locals say that the recent weather has been unseasonably cold and wet. It is coming into their dry season though so that may change quickly.

I would say mostly shorts and casual short sleeved shirts, sandals, running shoes, etc. We haven't needed pants yet as we are a pretty warm bunch even in the evening but I have seen lots of people with pants, long sleeves and jackets recently. I would think one or two long pants and long sleeved shirts would be plenty. This is the coldest part of the year for them so it will just get warmer.

The students also recommend bringing a fleece or similar type light jacket/sweater as the classrooms tend to be cold. My husband brought one and hasn't used it yet.

    Clear as mud. LOL.

I've worn long trousers maybe 6 times since august. 3 were for 'formal' parties.

    Temperature and Clothing

The classrooms are nearly ALWAYS cold! You will not regret bringing 3 or 4 pairs of jeans and a jacket. I never needed to warm myself, but i'm insulated in other ways Most of the women in my class spent 5 semesters shivering, so keep that in mind. Also, I can recall 17 days straight where it rained and a 2 week period where all the tourists were purchasing sweatshirts. Man, it was chilly on the back patio at the Swinging Doors! Keep in mind that most of the places in Saba are about 1000 feet above sea level, so the St. Maarten beach temperature doesn't apply. The exceptions are the airport, the port and The Bottom. In Summer, the bottom is pretty much 100 degrees on any day. On days off, remember to put on sunscreen, even if you're swimming. That tropical sun will give you a nasty burn even through water.
